All important win at New TredegarWe certainly make life hard for ourselves, looking comfortable at the start of the second half we heaped pressure on ourselves when young second row Dafydd Jones was red carded eight minutes into the second period. Maybe Daf was unlucky but the ref went to the letter of the law and dismissed him for boot contact with the head we await his report before we decide how to progress.
Late on the match really got nasty when the referee lost control after an all out mass fight...... on this occasion 'token' yellow cards were given to the New Tredegar scrum half and our own try scorer Craig Meredith seeing us finish the game with thirteen players. In fairness the closest the hosts came to our score was the final score which resulted in a bonus point for them, congratulations must go to the other thirteen players who 'fought' to gain the all to necessary win and we must use this as a springboard for the rest of the season. It was squeaky bum time for the last 10 mins or so for sure,especially at scrum time with 13 men and new tredegar metres from our try line but the lads held on and came away with a deserved victory.
With the venue they have at new tredegar they be thinking they are at the millenium stadium when they run out at abertillery park for the return match. Lets hope the team can put a little run together,if we take full advantage of the games in hand we can climb the table nicely,but as we know its easier said than done. WELL DONE LADS !! |
