Thanks to the vocal support of our travelling fans who out shouted the home supporters. I'm sure that this support paid dividends when we were under the cosh at times.
As far the the game itself, the strong wind made initial decisions difficult as 'the norm' would be to kick long to gain yardage, however this was the wrong tactic for us as our backs were capable of ripping their opposite numbers apart. Fortunately we realised this in the second quarter and the rewards were reaped.
Tactical awareness during the game has been in short measure during recent encounters lets hope on the basis of this match that we now realise that game plans are made to be changed according to circumstances as was seen against Monmouth.
All credit to the lads however, with no forward cover on the bench and a very light weight pack they stuck to their task and it was only when they went down to thirteen men and Dan Meredith could hardly walk that we had to go to passive scrums and a seven man pack!
Matthew Penny's experience showed the way forward in his best game for the club since rejoining.
I'm sure that this performance will give us the kick-start to the season that we required and a run of home games will pay dividends.
