Aber played Nelson the other week and who should we bump into but good old Fordy.... Our minds went back to that famous day at St Helens when we were fighting for our lives in the top flight. It was between ourselves and Dunvant who would be condemed to relegation we had Swansea away at St Helens, Dunvant had the 'easier' task of Newbridge at home.

To cut a long story short, Dunvant beat Newbridge meaning we had to win against the all whites an easy ask! However we achieved the impossible Fordy scoring a memorable try on the way a momentous performance as we had been down and out at half time.

There was dancing on the pitch as our 'mighty' support celebrated, I can remember bumping into old Abertillery favourite Robert Harris on the pitch who had split loyalties that day his son was playing for Swansea yet he was desperate for an Aber win. Robert's son scored two tries? and the 'green and whites' won the match as he said the end to a perfect day.

How many of our contributers were there that day? What are your memories of that day?   Very Happy

Yes, I was there.

My son-in-law and I drove down and met at the club. We then all piled in the coach for the trip. It truly was a memorial day and a great victory. Good singing on the coach return and after a few more beers, we finally left the club by 10.30 that night. No, I wasn't driving, my son-in-law was. Good result all round!

If I recall, Swansea had their revenge at our home fixture the following season.

Happy memories.
