The officers and committee had no hesitation on defending Lee at his hearing on Tuesday at which I attended on their behalf.
The case we put forward relied on the fact that Lee is not a dirty player as we all know, he has never been sent of previously in his rugby career. We felt that the referree may have wrongly interperated a player following the ball through a ruck for a stamping offence. Lee admitted that in all honesty he may have made contact with the player however there was never any malace or intent on his behalf.
The disciplinary committee accepted our appeal however backed the referree on his submission and decided to ban Lee for two weeks with immediate effect. |
